For the gas-conscious consumer:
Friday, October 10, 2008
The Ottawa Citizen -- It was the 11th of September and what's on the mind of the nation?

Terrorism? Politics? Try fuel prices.

In one night, thanks to the predicted path of Hurricane Ike, the price of 87-octane, on average, shot up to a budget-breaking, plan-cancelling $1.38 a litre.

Now, while some may still believe that this date is one that must live in infamy as the cornerstone of an ideological battle for freedom and not the price of gasoline, I, sitting in the cockpit of a new six-speed Mini Cooper, begged to differ.

Anyone for paying US$1.99 per gallon for 87-octane go juice? Sure would like to see it go that low!

Just wait jdebo20, when the prices drop in Canada, and they will, when they buy a gallon of gas at a comparable price to us, they are getting more gas then we are.

So he matched the fuel consumption of my 06 Jetta TDI on one trip. I often get that on a highway trip when I stick to speed limits with the car loaded with stuff.

Unfortunetley, not everybody can go out and buy a new car, not even a Mini Cooper. It would be great if they could.

Gas will go up after the election, no matter who wins. If McBush wins, the oil companies will know they have a free ride for another 4 years and if Barak Obama wins, oil companies will have to get in one more gouging before things change.

We're financing the terrorists by purchasing their fuel. We need to drill more and try not to buy ANY oil from overseas.

Where are all the cheap alternative fuels promised to us by our politicians instead of their expensive hot air we seem to receive?

9/11 should be a battle cry for energy independance! Why should we send our $ to countries who (if you remember) danced in the streets on 9/11/01.

I would rather pay $5.00 for gas, and have an electric car, then to ship money to terrorists and pay $1.00 for gas.
